Independent living is very necessary for every people to keep on progressing in life. To make it possible there should be a balance between body, mind and surrounding (environment). 

Healthcare Rehabilitation blog aims to guide therapists in learning and implementing evidence based rehabilitation practices for patients good recovery by gaining knowledge about various medical conditions and its interventions. 

Our vision is to make patients independent in their daily living and improve their Quality of life. 

A Physical therapist/Physiotherapist (PT) treats the patient’s actual impairments from a biomechanical perspective. Physical therapy improve the impairment through various therapeutic techniques and exercises and thereby increasing mobility, aligning bones and joints, or lessening pain.

An occupational therapist (OT) treats the whole person. Whether they’re recovering from injuries or have developmental or cognitive disabilities affecting their motor skills, emotions or behavior. OT is a client- centered health profession concerned with promoting health and well being through meaningful occupation. Occupational therapist works to bring the patient from dependent to independent living.

Physical therapy and occupational therapy are two types of rehabilitative care services. Both Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist are trained Healthcare professionals who are certified to treat patients, of all age groups, with various diseases and impairments. These rehabilitative services are specialized in dealing with cases in fields of Neurology, Pediatrics, Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Orthopedic, Psychiatry, Disability Rehabilitation, Medicine, Plastic Surgery, Surgery, NICU or Neonatal care, Community Based Rehabilitation. 

Following are the objectives and goals of these healthcare professionals :
  1. Their goal is to improve or/and prevent the worsening of your condition due to an injury, surgery, or illness. 
  2. Improve the Quality of Life of patients
  3. Intervention focuses on prevention of disease, promoting healthy lifestyle, early management of the diseases.
  4. Both assist patients in improving their ability to perform daily activities through training and education by using remediation, restoration or compensatory approaches.
  5. Promote and motivate patients to become independent in their daily activities through adaptation or/and modification of the environment.
OT and PT work on a full-time or part-time basis positions in a variety of settings including :
  • Government or Private Hospitals (as a full-time therapist or consultant therapist)
  • Nursing homes 
  • Private practice or clinics (also provides  community based rehabilitation)
  • Schools, NGOs
  • Home health agencies 
  • Outpatient clinics 
  • Psychiatric facilities
